A clinical forum will be held at the Russell Strong Auditorium, Princess Alexandra Hospital to inform clinicians about the new Advance Health Directive for Mental Health (AHD-MH). This document became effective on commencement of the new Mental Health Act in March 2017. It enables individuals to formally document their views, wishes, and treatment preferences for future mental health care. Clinicians are invited to learn more about this new legal document, and how to encourage individuals with lived experience of mental illness to consider and complete the document.

Session 1 — Special Guest Speakers include:

  • Dr John Reilly, Chief Psychiatrist — Office of Chief Psychiatry, Queensland Health
  • Ivan Frkovic, Commissioner — Queensland Mental Health Commission
  • Mary Burgess, Public Advocate — Queensland

Session 2 — Case Study and dynamic panel discussion

  • Panel representatives from: Psychiatrists/Clinicians; GP; Mental Health Nursing; Social Work / Community; Lawyer / Advocate; and Consumer network


Queensland Health clincians are encouraged to participate in person or via videoconference.
